At The Valerie Fund Walk & JAG-ONE Physical Therapy 5K Run, every step you take and every dollar you raise supports our mission to provide comprehensive health care for children with cancer and blood disorders.
Our philosophy is that to truly heal the children with whose care we are entrusted, we must treat them not just medically, but also emotionally, socially, and developmentally.
In the last 8 years alone, the generous support of our donors and sponsors at the walk has helped us raise over $8M. Your generosity has helped us provide a range of services that address quality of life issues during treatment, healing and beyond.
Please join us as we celebrate the hope and courage of children from our area facing life-threatening diseases.
Sue and Ed Goldstein founded The Valerie Fund more than four decades ago in memory of their nine-year-old daughter.
Their vision included easy access to a combination of top-notch medical care and customized therapeutic services that would help to minimize disruptions to family life while facing illness and hospitalization.
Today, 6,000 patients battling cancer and blood disorders receive treatment close to home at one of seven Valerie Fund Children’s Centers in New Jersey and New York.
In 2017, Sue and Ed were inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame.
The Valerie Fund is Four Star Charity on Charity Navigator

Your support throughout the years has made all this possible. The Valerie Fund Children’s Centers for Cancer and Blood Disorders form the largest network of hospital-based outpatient healthcare facilities in New Jersey and is now one of the largest in the nation. We have a fabulous medical and support staff caring for our children and their families and they supply that extra ingredient … LOVE.
I met two Valerie Fund Center moms a while back. One had a son diagnosed at five with leukemia; he’s eight now and a year off treatment. The other mom’s son was diagnosed at 20 months and he’s still on treatment. They’re very young, these moms. And they talk about The Valerie Fund as if it were responsible for everything good in the world.
Our very first fund-raiser was a picnic held at Camp High Hills in Warren, New Jersey in the late 1970s. We prayed for a sunshiny day and we got it. Over 400 people showed up. It was great. And we netted $3,575.00.
In 2019, the walk alone brought in over $1M.
