Dance, Love, and Pixie Dust
On March 19, 2018, I went to my pediatrician for (what we thought) was an enlargement in my thyroid. That’s when she found a bunch of swollen lymph nodes in my right shoulder, and the day after, I was diagnosed with Stage IIA Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Thankfully, my cancer treatment was relatively easy, considering my cancer was found very early, but it was still something that I (and my family) needed to be strong for and that has changed my life forever.
Now, on January 8, 2020, I am almost 18 months cancer free.
The Valerie Center did everything and anything for me throughout my journey with cancer. From integrative medicine to celebration gift cards to talking with the social workers, they made sure I felt comfortable and that my world was NOT ending. I can’t thank The Valerie enough for what they did for my family and I.
Every day from this day forward, I will do what I can to support The Valerie Fund. In 2019 I was an Ambassador for The Valerie Fund and was grateful to be able to give back. Also, in middle school, I was in the National Junior Honor Society and we collected gift cards like I was given after each of my chemo treatments to give to current Valerie Fund patients. I'm now a freshman in high school, and doing The Walk & 5K in Verona again is yet another way for me to give back! Every donation counts towards this amazing organization. I hope you consider walking with me and my team or simply donating to help me thank The Valerie for all they do!
