About The Valerie Fund

All-Star Hockey Game rescheduled for Friday, August 21st at RWJBarnabas Health Hockey House, the Official Practice Facility of the New Jersey Devils

(Maplewood, NJ) Morristown-Beard student Andrew Low, founder of Kids Ice Cancer and his teammates were looking forward to the culmination of their spectacular fundraising efforts on behalf of critically ill children being treated at The Valerie Fund. The young philanthropists and athletes were closing in on reaching their goal of $125,000 and the All-Star Hockey game in late March would have been the "icing" on their initiative to score a goal against pediatric cancer in New Jersey. The game had to be postponed due to the Coronavirus lockdown and will now take place on Friday, August 21st at 7:00 pm at the RWJBarnabas Health Hockey House, the New Jersey Devils practice facility located in Newark's Prudential Center.

Kids Ice Cancer has been working with The Valerie Fund all year to support their seven Valerie Fund Centers treating children with cancer and blood disorders located in New Jersey, New York City and metro Philadelphia. Andrew, a rising junior at Morristown-Beard School started the organization in 2019 following the loss of several family members to cancer. Along with a desire to help young children battling the disease, Andrew realized that as a member of a dedicated sports team, he had an opportunity to galvanize his fellow teammates and make a difference for some less fortunate kids from the local area.

Sharing the news of the rescheduled date, Andrew said, "Our hockey players have worked extremely hard all year to raise money for The Valerie Fund. We are so close to hitting our goal of $125,000, and we are excited to be able to conclude this year's fundraising efforts with our all-star game to take place on August 21st from 7:00 PM-10:00 PM. We have partnered with the New Jersey Devils, who have generously donated the ice time at their Official Practice Facility, RWJBarnabas Health Hockey House, to host our game. We want to thank the players, parents, and our entire community for all of the tremendous support and helping us raise money for the kids who need it most!"
