Angels Are Everywhere!!

As a former patient of The Valerie Fund I know firsthand what many children with cancer are going through. I was diagnosed with osteo-sarcoma, a rare cancer in the bone, when I was just 11 years old. The emotional and physical toll the process of chemotherapy and the numerous surgeries took on myself, as well as my family & friends, was devastating. However, with the help of the many doctors, social workers, and volunteers over at The Valerie Fund, my experience was not one of sadness and despair; but rather one of hope and faith. The Valerie Fund has and continues to provide hope for thousands of children who are battling cancer and different blood disorders who may initially have these feelings of despair. As an adult now, I always look for ways to give others a sense of hope and optimism, which is why my team and I will once again, along with our friends and family, participate in The Valerie Fund Walk & 5K Run on Saturday, June 6th, 2026 in Verona Park. The name of 'Alberto's Angels' is a tribute to myself and my fight with cancer, as well as a tribute my father's (whose name is Angel) own fight with cancer, which sadly he lost to in 1999. It is also a nod to the all of the wonderful people over at the Valerie Fund who worked countless hours to provide this hope to families. They truly were my Angels.
