Fire a Tailed Beast Blast at cancer

My name is Joshua, but I go by Josh. At the age of 5, I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in December of 2007. Although I had to spend Christmas in the hospital, The Valerie Fund made it somewhat enjoyable for my family and I. They gave my siblings and I gifts, lifting a heavy burden off of my parents. Dr. Kamalakar and his staff made me feel at home. They were so comforting and encouraging. For the next 13 months, I was treated with Chemotherapy and steroids. Unfortunately for me, I had to go through all of the side effects that came with the treatment. I experienced nausea, fatigue, loss of appetite, extreme weight gain and so much more. Watching me go through chemo was extremely hard on my family. They had to see me suffer everyday through it all. Since I had to go through treatment, I needed to be home schooled for a while. It was tough watching all of my friends enjoy their lives and not knowing if I'd ever be able to enjoy mine again. While going through treatment, my mother and I grew very close to patients and their families. I lost one of my best friends I met at the hospital. When I lost her it was very hard. Losing someone that has the same disease as you hits a nerve in your body. It makes you feel like there's no hope. But thanks to the Valerie Fund, I wasn't afraid and I was very hopeful. They made me feel like I could beat cancer. Towards the end of my treatment, The Valerie Fund helped make my wish come true by sending my family and I to Disney world. I'm now 23 years old, and I thank everything for me beating cancer and being in remission for the past few years. Donating to The Valerie fund helps so many families going through what mine went through. It's great to put a smile on a child's face who's going through something so horrific. Being able to still have fun around other kids that are going through the same thing as you is something positive to look forward to. At Camp, I've made so many life long friends. It's wonderful to keep traditional things going, that way other survivors can encourage kids that they will make it through. I hope you all can donate so that other kids can have a great time like I did, while not having to spend a lot of time getting treatment.
