Camp Happy Times 2016
In August, campers had an amazing week of fun and friendship as the 34th summer of Camp Happy Times was held on the beautiful campus of Tyler Hill Camp in Pennsylvania. To coordinate with the Olympics in Brazil, Camp Happy Times had its own Wild and Wacky Olympics and as almost 150 kids said so beautifully, "It was the best week ever!"
For the Olympic theme, campers and counselors were assigned to five different teams: Purple Penguins, Red Raptors, Green Gators, Blue Bears and Orange Orangutans. Whole-camp Olympic events were held each day, which included games like an obstacle course, tug-of-war, Simon Says and zorbing! Everyone had a blast participating in all the events. A special thank you goes out to our friends at Morgan Stanley who came to visit and support our kids on the very last day of the Olympics. The schedule for the week also included our daily camp activities like swimming, boating, fishing, arts & crafts, wall climbing and tennis. There were also special events like our traditional evening campfires, our dance and the annual talent show. We also celebrated our volunteer director's 80th birthday right at Camp Happy Times!
We concluded the week with an exciting closing ceremony to honor all of our own Olympic winners. Camp Happy Times is truly a family, as campers and counselors live together for the week, sharing laughs, smiles, stories and hugs. Many people say that having had cancer was not a welcome experience, but that they are incredibly thankful for experiencing the gift of Camp Happy Times every single summer. Join us in supporting all the kids next year as Camp Happy Times celebrates its 35th birthday in late August 2017!
