Three Charity Golf Tournaments Benefit The Valerie Fund
A trifecta of golf outings raised an extraordinary $767,000 and was memorable from start to finish.
The first event had golfers teeing off at Baltusrol just one week following the historic 2016 PGA Championship. Thanks to the tireless leadership of Co-Chairs Steve Squeri, Vice Chairman of American Express and Plaza Construction's CEO and President Richard Wood, the American Express Charity Golf Tournament broke all previous records raising over $560,000. Joining the Co-Event Sponsors American Express and Plaza Construction were major sponsors Inserra Supermarkets, Ethel and Joel Sharenow, AOL, Inc., ASM Mechanical Systems, E-J Electric Installation Co., JDP Mechanical Inc., The Durst Organization and The Sweet Construction Group.
The Dr. Pepper Snapple Group was this year's honoree at The Burger King Children's Charities Golf Classic which raised almost $100,000. Franchisee owners in the New York metropolitan area have a long history of collaboration with The Valerie Fund that now spans two generations and has raised more than $2,000,000. The Burger King committee members Nathan Blau, Peg Canniff, Jim Hufnagel, Roopali Jethwa, Norm Lichtman, Jay Della Monica, Drew Paterno and Bob Wallstein continue to successfully nurture the desire by their organization to give back to the communities in which they serve.
Though the Toby Tyler Golf Invitational may not have the longevity of the other two events, friends and family have passionately embraced Co-Chairs Luke Tyler and Art Moss's efforts raising over $200,000 in just two years. Nor was the outing lacking in heart and inspiration as two remarkable men-Toby Tyler and Brock Lovero-were honored posthumously. Both were accomplished business leaders, dedicated volunteers, and community leaders and their love and advocacy for children was celebrated by the outing's kind support of The Valerie Fund.
