The Valerie Fund invites you to take a self-guided tour of The Clark Rogers House, a Valerie Fund Designer Show House. Located just steps from Plainfield’s historic Millionaires’ Row, The Clark Rogers House is a remarkable example of Victorian Italianate and Queen Anne-style architecture and stands as a testament to Plainfield’s rise in the 19th century as a commuter haven and cultural hub. Built in the 1860s for retired merchant Clark Rogers, the home is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  

The home showcases signature elements of its time: decorative cross gables, cornices, and finely incised millwork along the frieze. The Victorian “gingerbread” trim highlights the clapboard siding, while segmental-headed windows and a prominent three-bay leaded glass window on the main floor offer striking period detail. Visitors will also admire the double-leaf paneled oak doors set beneath an ornate segmental arch that provides a welcoming entrance from the wraparound porch. The Queen Anne influence is evident in the home's decorative turret and bay windows.
