All-Star Hockey Game to Benefit The Valerie Fund Kids Ice Cancer founded by local teenager supports pediatric cancer care in NJ Campaign on schedule to reach $250,000 goal over three years of fundraising

West Orange, NJ: Kids Ice Cancer and The Valerie Fund are teaming up to score a goal against pediatric cancer in New Jersey. Andrew Low of North Caldwell and a Senior at Morristown-Beard School became interested in raising money for young cancer patients after losing three family members to cancer in 2016. The Valerie Fund has seven centers located close to the homes of the 6,000 patients treated for cancer and blood disorders there each year. Several of the centers are also close to Andrew's home and he was motivated by the knowledge that his fundraising efforts would benefit local children. The patients receive state-of-the-art medical care as well as customized services that are not covered by insurance.
Andrew embraced the organization's mission and understood the importance of maintaining the best quality of life for these critically ill children during a most challenging time. "When I started Kids Ice Cancer 3 years ago, I never imagined how much support I would have received. Our mission, "kids helping kids," resonates with people of all ages, and it is inspiring to be able to rally other young student-athletes to work towards raising money for The Valerie Fund."
Andrew founded Kids Ice Cancer and recruited friends and other interested hockey players he knew. Together, they raised almost $200,000 in the first two years to benefit the children of The Valerie Fund. "We have raised $190,000 since we started two years ago, and our goal this year is to raise another $60,000, bringing our total fundraising to $250,000. Nothing will make me prouder than knowing that all the young people who participated in Kids Ice Cancer over the past three years have helped thousands of children and their families during the most challenging times of their lives," says Andrew. Fundraising is now in full swing. Achieving Andrew's goal would bring the fundraising campaign's three-year total to a quarter of a million dollars and make Kids Ice Cancer one of the most successful community initiatives in Valerie Fund history.
The Kids Ice Cancer All-Star game has been scheduled for June 5th at 7pm at the Richard J. Codey Arena in West Orange. Livestreaming of the game will be provided by Morris-Sussex Sports https://morrissussexsports.com .
