Ready to Raise More than $1,000,000 for the 6th Consecutive Year

Over 4,000 walkers and runners will meet at Verona Park on June 10, 2017 to support children with cancer and blood disorders
[Maplewood, NJ]- The 2017 Valerie Fund Walk & JAG Physical Therapy 5K Run will take place on Saturday, June 10th in Verona Park, a magnificent setting for the celebration of children in our community being treated for cancer and blood disorders. To learn more about the event and to register for the USATF sanctioned 5K race and the Walk, go to www.thevaleriefund.org/walk or call The Valerie Fund offices at 973-761-0422.
Sponsorships continue to be the foundation of the Walk/5K Run's success as well as the grass roots efforts of hundreds of Walk Captains and their teams. The Valerie Fund takes great pride in sharing some of the major sponsors' names: Atlantic Health, RJW Barnabas Health, Burger King, U.S. Trust, the Inserra, Saker and Village ShopRite families and JAG Physical Therapy, underwriter of the 5K Run. Also renewing their support is Danone, parent company of the Dannon, Activia and Oikos brand yogurts.

Employees from these foundations and corporations share a history of extraordinary support and have become members of The Valerie Fund family. One sponsor, Margie Heller, Administrative Director, Community Health and Outreach at RWJ Barnabas Health has been involved with The Valerie Fund her entire life.

"Since I was a child, my parents were dear friends with founders Ed and Sue Goldstein and supported The Valerie Fund from the very beginning. I am proud that RWJ Barnabas Health has been a major sponsor for over seven years. On the day of the Walk, the energy in the park is amazing! To see The Valerie Fund patients so empowered is a great joy."
Eight new sponsors have already committed to generously support the event including Global Healthcare Management, LLC, an international healthcare consulting firm headquartered in Milford, NJ and Bats Global Markets, operator of four equities exchanges in the United States. St. Joseph's Children's Hospital in Paterson, NJ, new home of the seventh Valerie Fund Children's Center has also joined the roster of sponsors.

Jon P. Letko, Chief Executive Officer of Global Healthcare Management considers it "an honor and privilege to be involved with The Valerie Fund." He has spent time with the organization's founders Sue and Ed Goldstein and says, "The work that is done there is a testimony to the love and kindness that the Goldsteins have given these children that are facing such hardships, with smiles on their faces and an unlimited amount of strength and bravery every day. We look forward to working with The Valerie Fund and those families benefitted by them."

The Valerie Fund plans the event with an emphasis on family fun as the day celebrates the hope and courage of Valerie Fund patients and the amazing support friends and family provide. Each of our sponsors will host an activity for kids at their tents, including face painters, balloon artists, jugglers and magicians. New this year will be a visit from the Montclair Art Museum's Mobile Studio, a traveling crafts center that will be at the park to do arts and craft with the kids. Tastings from Jersey Mike's and Yazzo frozen greek yogurt treats are two of the new vendors who will support the event with their gift in kind donations.
